DISCUSSION PAPER ON THE CONSUMER PROTECTION CODE & THE DIGITALISATION OF FINANCIAL SERVICES

YOUR VIEWS ARE IMPORTANT TO US….

Dear Member

Please click this link to the News & Media section of the Central Banks website where a discussion paper, to consider the Consumer Protection Code and the Digitalisation of Financial Services, has just been published.

The discussion Paper sets out potential risks to consumer protection, from digitalization. It outlines areas where the Central Bank consider consumer benefits and risk from digitalisation are most likely to arise such as

  • impact on access to financial services,
  • provision of information,
  • suitability requirements,
  • claims and complaints handling and
  • retention of consumer records

To enable us to respond in a meaningful way to this discussion paper we would welcome both your views and participation on whether the existing rules remain appropriate in an increasingly digital financial services environment.

We would welcome your response as soon as possible and in any event before the end of September to enable Brokers Ireland to reply to this discussion paper.
